ينطلق غداً الجمعة مهرجان خادم الحرمين الشريفين للهجن 2026، على أرض ميدان الجنادرية التاريخي لسباقات الهجن في العاصمة الرياض، ولمدة 10 أيام، بمشاركة 5 فئات معتمدة، إضافة إلى سباق الهجانة للراكب البشري «للسيدات والرجال»، وأشواط «المزاين» ضمن الفعاليات المصاحبة للمهرجان، حيث يتجاوز مجموع جوائزها 75 مليون ريال.
ويأتي انطلاق النسخة الثالثة من المهرجان الذي يقام تحت رعاية خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك سلمان بن عبدالعزيز آل سعود -حفظه الله-، استكمالًا للنجاحات الكبرى التي تحققت في النسختين السابقتين؛ إذ شهدت النسخة الأولى (2024) تدشين هذا الحدث العالمي بمشاركة قياسية وتنافسية عالية، وضعت المهرجان على خارطة أبرز الفعاليات الرياضية التراثية في المنطقة، فيما عززت النسخة الثانية (2025) مكانة المهرجان الدولية عبر زيادة أعداد المشاركين من مختلف دول الخليج والعالم، إلى جانب تطوير البنية التحتية لميدان الجنادرية، مما انعكس على مستوى التنظيم وجودة الأشواط، التي شهدت تحطيم أرقام قياسية في التوقيت الزمني، ليصبح المهرجان اليوم أيقونة تجمع بين عبق الماضي واحترافية الحاضر.
وبلغ إجمالي الجوائز المالية للأشواط العامة والمفتوحة وسباق الهجانة 35.9 مليون ريال، فيما بلغت جوائز أشواط الكؤوس والرموز 36.4 مليون ريال، إضافة إلى 2.7 مليون ريال مخصصة لجوائز أشواط «المزاين».
وتُفتتح منافسات النسخة الثالثة بإقامة أشواط اليوم الأول، بعدد 40 شوطًا لفئة «الحقايق»، بواقع 30 شوطًا عامًا و10 أشواط مفتوحة، لمسافة 4 كيلومترات لكل شوط، وبإجمالي جوائز للفئة يبلغ 16.18 مليون ريال، وذلك وفقًا للبرنامج الزمني المعتمد من اللجنة المنظمة.
ويحظى قطاع الهجن بدعمٍ كبير من القيادة الرشيدة -أيدها الله- للإسهام في تطوير هذه الرياضة التاريخية، والحفاظ على مكانتها بوصفها تراثًا ثقافيًّا ورياضيًّا مهمًّا للأجيال القادمة، إذ يأتي هذا الدعم ليُرسّخ حضور سباقات الهجن كإحدى الركائز الرياضية الوطنية التي تمضي بها المملكة بخطى واثقة نحو الريادة العالمية، معززةً بذلك مكانة التراث السعودي في المحافل الدولية.
The King Abdulaziz Camel Festival 2026 will kick off tomorrow, Friday, at the historic Janadriyah Camel Racing Field in the capital, Riyadh, for a duration of 10 days, with the participation of 5 approved categories, in addition to the camel racing event for human riders “for women and men,” and the “beauty” contests as part of the accompanying activities of the festival, where the total prize money exceeds 75 million riyals.
The launch of the third edition of the festival, held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud – may God protect him – comes as a continuation of the major successes achieved in the previous two editions; the first edition (2024) witnessed the inauguration of this global event with record participation and high competition, placing the festival on the map of the most prominent traditional sports events in the region, while the second edition (2025) enhanced the festival’s international standing by increasing the number of participants from various Gulf countries and around the world, in addition to developing the infrastructure of the Janadriyah field, which reflected positively on the level of organization and the quality of the races, which saw record-breaking times, making the festival today an icon that combines the essence of the past with the professionalism of the present.
The total prize money for the general and open races and the camel racing event amounts to 35.9 million riyals, while the prizes for the cup and symbol races reached 36.4 million riyals, in addition to 2.7 million riyals allocated for the “beauty” race prizes.
The competitions of the third edition will commence with the first day’s races, featuring 40 races for the “Haqayeq” category, consisting of 30 general races and 10 open races, each covering a distance of 4 kilometers, with a total prize money for the category amounting to 16.18 million riyals, according to the approved schedule from the organizing committee.
The camel racing sector enjoys significant support from the wise leadership – may God support it – to contribute to the development of this historic sport and to maintain its status as an important cultural and sporting heritage for future generations. This support aims to solidify the presence of camel racing as one of the national sports pillars that the Kingdom confidently pursues towards global leadership, thereby enhancing the status of Saudi heritage in international forums.
