في خطوة صادمة، قرر فندق غراند أمبيرور في ماكاو تفكيك ممره الأسطوري المصنوع من الذهب الخالص وبيعه مقابل نحو 13 مليون دولار، مستفيداً من ارتفاع أسعار الذهب القياسي عالمياً.
الممر الذي افتتح مع الفندق عام 2006، كان يضم عشرات السبائك، كل واحدة تزن كيلوغراماً كاملاً، ليصبح رمزاً للفخامة والترف في قلب مدينة الكازينوهات الصينية الشهيرة. وقالت إدارة الفندق إن الهدف من التصميم كان خلق «جو مبهر وفاخر» للزوار.
لكن الارتفاع الجنوني في أسعار الذهب والأزمة الاقتصادية العالمية دفع الفندق إلى تحويل الترف إلى استثمار نقدي، خصوصا مع توقف الفندق عن نشاط المقامرة منذ أكتوبر 2025، تماشياً مع تشديد القوانين في ماكاو على الكازينوهات.
وقالت مجموعة أمبيرور أنترتينمنت هوتيل ليمتد إن الذهب، الذي بلغ وزنه الإجمالي 79 كيلوغراماً، سيُستخدم لتعزيز الوضع المالي للفندق وتمويل فرص استثمارية مستقبلية، مع التخطيط لتجديد مرافق الفندق بالكامل لتتماشى مع الطابع الجديد للمكان.
وتعد ماكاو المنطقة الوحيدة في الصين التي تسمح بالقمار، ما جعلها تتصدر العالم من حيث عائدات الكازينوهات في 2025، لكنها الآن تخضع لخطط بكين لتنويع الاقتصاد، وهو ما يفسر مثل هذه القرارات الصادمة التي تجمع بين الفخامة والإيرادات المالية الذكية.
In a shocking move, the Grand Emperor Hotel in Macau has decided to dismantle its legendary corridor made of pure gold and sell it for about $13 million, taking advantage of the record high global gold prices.
The corridor, which opened with the hotel in 2006, featured dozens of gold bars, each weighing a full kilogram, becoming a symbol of luxury and opulence in the heart of the famous Chinese casino city. The hotel management stated that the design aimed to create a “dazzling and luxurious atmosphere” for visitors.
However, the skyrocketing gold prices and the global economic crisis have pushed the hotel to convert luxury into cash investment, especially since the hotel has ceased gambling activities since October 2025, in line with the tightening of laws in Macau regarding casinos.
The Emperor Entertainment Hotel Limited group stated that the gold, which weighed a total of 79 kilograms, will be used to strengthen the hotel’s financial position and fund future investment opportunities, with plans to completely renovate the hotel’s facilities to align with the new character of the place.
Macau is the only region in China that allows gambling, making it the world’s leader in casino revenues in 2025, but it is now subject to Beijing’s plans to diversify the economy, which explains such shocking decisions that combine luxury with smart financial revenues.
